Could have been better

This video is about a criminal who was given the Death Sentence. There are many things in this video that could be better. I understand this is breaking news so the news reporters did not have much time to prepare, however, I feel this video is very repetitive. Another thing that bothered me was when they showed people walking, they didn't say who those people were and how they were related to this incident. I also feel they could have done something better than just show the criminals head shot throughout the entire video. I feel maybe video footage would have been more effective.

Great video, great use of multimedia.

In this video, a solider uses technology to keep a Family bond. I think all aspects of this video are effective. I like that they used still images as well as video footage to tell the story. I liked how they had different scenery in the footage as to tell the story for the viewers. I feel the one thing that could have been better was the audio when the family was sitting in their living room. It was a little bit echo-y and I feel if they would have went else where to film it would be easier to understand.

Take responsiblity for your actions

In this video, an arsonist is sentenced 15 years in prison. I think this video was done well. It showed the reactions of some of the firefighters, as well as one who was paralyzed in the fire that was started. To have video clips of the fire, and of the people affected speaking was really effective for this video. One thing I can think would make this video better is if they would have shown a mug shot of the person who started the fire.

Unbelievable

After watching this video, I was completely shocked. Not just by the idea of it, but the fact that I went to that middle school. This is my school district. Besides the content of the video, there are many things I think could have been better and I would have changed.
One thing I noticed right off of the bat, when the reported interviewed a few people at the local gas station, their names were not given. When this first came up, I thought, "Wait, who are these people and how are they connected to the situation?" Another thing I didn't like was the video they shot of students and "the inside of the school." Maybe it's just because I went to school there, but those shots are misleading. They were not taken in Brandon Middle School. Students there do not wear uniforms, and the area views are not the school at all. The last thing that I would have changed is at the end of the video she said she was reporting out of Pontiac. Pontiac is about 40 minutes away from Ortonville, making this video very misleading for viewers.

Why YOU should live in the Residence Halls

For Mariah, Jessica and my group project, we chose to promote living on campus here at Ferris. We decided it would be effective to get students opinions on the matter, as well as take pictures of some positive things if students were to choose living on campus. I think our video turned out okay, anyways for three of us who are not very experienced with making videos. There are a few things I would do differently. In some of the interviews, it is a little hard to hear what the students are saying because of where the video was taped. Our audio could have been better. Also, I wish we would have thought about more effective ways to promote the res halls, rather than just students talking. I feel the opinions we got from the students are effective, as well as the pictures we took.

HAHAH! Dumb criminal

If you set aside the fact that this Stupid Criminal stole a ladies purse, this situation is actually pretty funny. I think this video was done well for the amount of information shared. Because information was rare, the picture that was automatically sent to facebook was going to be the one thing to show. I think the conversation between the two reporters was good for the video because they kept the subject light-hearted, considering the criminal was caught very soon.
There was nothing I would change about the audio, I think it was very clear.

Completely unreal

It is completely unreal that things like this happen. I thought this video could be improved in both video and audio. I like how they showed the criminals face while they were talking about him, however, I didn't like that they showed the same video clips of him twice. I didn't think that was effective for the video at all. Also, when the report number one began talking to reporter number two, it was difficult to hear what number two was saying for a minute until the audio was fixed. I think this video could have been improved if they would have shown other clips of this guy talking or anything else he could have been caught doing. Also, the other two men that were apart of the crime for not speaking up, it would have been nice to see video of them rather than just two goofy pictures.

The life of a resident advisor

The online story I chose to do is about the life of a resident advisor. When making this video, I wanted to incorporate the humorous aspects of the job into it so viewers could see the job from an entertaining perspective. Because there is so much work done in order to be an awesome RA, it is extremely difficult to explain the job to the full extent.

Although this video does not necessarily have a professional demeanor, I think the outlook shows insight to the everyday events that people in RA positions encounter.

My staff was awesome in working with me on this, so I hope everyone enjoys it!

Woah. Stay off the road!

I came across one of the most shocking, but expected videos I have ever seen. It is about a 9 year-old driving her drunk father around. I think this video is done extremely well. I was able to concentrate on what was being said by the reporter while watching the video clips that were included. I think the video clips made the story more real and helped to keep attention.

I also think the audio is done extremely well, too. I like how the reporter talked over the video, and in the clip they also incorporated the callers recording.

I believe the length of the piece is very appropriate because the story is given and the idea is very clear without being drug out too long.

$39,000 on a backpack?

I recently watched a video from cnn.com about a backpack selling for $39,000.
I really like the way this video was made. I especially liked how pictures were scrolling on the screen while the announcer was speaking. It let viewers see who exactly he was talking about, as well as the look of the backpack. The only downside to it, was that it became a little distracting. I found myself just looking at the pictures and thinking about the details that the images show instead of listening to what was being said.
I don't really think that issue could have been fixed. I think either way, it would be distracting for viewers.
I think the audio was done well, as well as the script. It kept my attention throughout the entire video and I even laughed a few times. I think this is a good example of multimedia.
